I'm getting a pen tablet!

On Christmas I discovered I'm going to be getting a WACOM Intuos 2 pen tablet instead of the Graphire I originally wanted, Yay! Why did I say I'm going to get one instead of having got one? Well, the place my dad ordered it from was out of stock, so it may take a month. I hope we don't run into a brouhaha similar to when my dad ordered Stronghold for my brother's birthday; we waited months and months only to discover that the place we ordered it from closed (another Mac supporting store closed, another great day of mourning); we ended up getting it when we went to Vancouver.

You know how some people say that WWI started WWII? Well, I like to put that in what I think are more accurate terms: The Treaty of Versailles started WWII. See, if those nations on the comittee had agreed to Woodrow Wilson's—God bless his soul—Resolutions, and had Germany and Austria-Hungary on the comittee, Germany would'n't have had a murder of genocidal morons take advantage of the country's desperation and nationalism and blacken the country's name.

Elite

If anyone out there has a ROM of the PAL (European) version of the NES version of Elite, please send it to me at lorincdm@yahoo.co.uk. The only files I have found up to this point have been NTSC conversions that don't work.

City Yarns

Check out City Yarns. It's got excellent writing and amazingly human stories with a touch of noir. I'd love to cast Morgan Freeman as the main character of "Closing Doors", the first story, as I can easily hear him speaking the man's dialogue and he's my favorite Black actor.

If you have'nt heard of Spike TV's Video Game Awards yet you should. It's about time video games got some mainstream respect. Though being created by an American men's channel is both kinda obvious, kinda narrowing of appeal, and really corruptive of videogaming's image. Another irony: videogames used to be the province of geeks, and these VGAs are being created by a channel targeted at macho men (what a change of demographics!—Then again Spike does carry Star Trek the Next Generation, albeit with intentions that would make Gene Roddenberry spin in his grave.)
